Details:
"The Dark" is a movie that dives into Welsh mythology. The film takes place on the Isle of Mann. The creators chose the location for the filming well. The beautiful, mysterious countryside creates a very ancient and fascinating atmosphere.
The movie begins with Ada (Bello) on a trip with her daughter Sarah (Stuckey). The car runs out of gas and they find themselves in a very remote area aside a sharp cliff. They sleep the night through and move on to visit Sarah's father, played by Sean Bean.
There is much tension between the family from a separation and the daughter is extremely resentful. The flashbacks eventually show that Ada was not a good mother. When Sarah goes missing, everyone assumes she drowned in the ocean, except for Ada. She suspects something worse. While the authorities are searching the sea for a body, she is digging through the history of the area and the home they live in.
Eventually Ada finds Ebril, a strange little girl that came from sixty years earlier. Ada soon suspects that they found the doorway to the ancient world of the dead and Ebril escaped when she lured Sarah in.
Ada sees the mistakes she made with her daughter and begins pursuing the legend that might bring her daughter back alive. She starts becoming closer to her estranged husband, but he does not believe her theory.
Ebril is trying to assume Sarah's place in their lives and Ada is the only person to see it so clearly.
She voyages to a hateful place and eventually, when she finds her, brings her daughter back. But, something is terribly wrong with this seemingly miraculous reunion.
