Review: Night Flier (1997)

Miguel Ferrer (Twin Peaks, Crossing Jordan) stars as Richard Dees, a fast-talking journalist at a sleazy tabloid. Dees is a hardened and crass reporter who has seen (and done) it all. One day, his publisher hands him a story that seeps into his mind.

He refuses the "Night Flier" at first and dismisses it as someone who's going to be apprehended. Only, the murders don't stop and no one can seem to catch the driver of the mysterious plane. After repeatedly scoffing at the story, it is given to the new reporter. Dees then wars with his magazine's newest young reporter, played by Julie Entwhistle. He is now interested in finding out who the Night Flier really is.

For the better part of the movie Dees does anything he can to take the story away from Entwhistle's character and eventually, does become the first to meet up with the Night Flier.

The ending presents a major twist for both characters.

Ghoulish Details:

"Night Flier" is based upon a story by Stephen King. It is a vampire tale that's far different from his Salem's Lot.

Overall, the story is well made. Ferrer creates a great hateful character that leaves you questioning who is the real hero of the story.
