"B" movies have done little more than perpetuate negative assumptions about horror. Albeit they are, somewhat, a part of the industry's history, they are generally poor. It is more like a distant relative of the genre.

Regardless of how much hype you give this part of horror, few people are listening. It is possible that some current producers believe they are paying homage to the 1950's movie era, however, during that period the effects used were actually considered modern and realistic. That is their "charm," if you would describe it as such.

The professionals of the time did not attempt to create inferior movies. Many viewers feel such disdain because these movies are so often cheaply and feebly created. There is much room for creativity on even a small budget, but so often they opt to re-create most 1980s "slasher" films and add way too much soft-core porn.

During these particular movies, the viewer gets the impression that the writers and producers couldn't decide if they wanted to remake, "Friday the 13th ," or "Porkey's." So, instead of narrowing their choices down, they hastily work to include all.

This is not to say every low-budget movie is automatically bad. There are a few rare gems where hard work and originality is obvious. These will hold a special place at Vacreeper.com. It isn't often that these are produced and they should be encouraged and applauded. Just because a budget is small does not mean that it's horrible. Creativity can't be purchased at any price. Big budget horror movies can be as terrible as small budget creations.

These wonderful works will receive the, "B-Gem," icon.
